Meet the Teachers: Michelle Huang, our Piano Teacher

Michelle is our lead piano instructor at Liberty Park Music. She started learning piano at six years old! Her two older sisters were already learning and helped inspire her to want to learn and get better. And can you guess who Michelle’s first piano teacher was? Michelle has performed piano throughout the U.S., the Czech Republic, Italy, Switzerland, and Taiwan, and taught classes and workshops in the Southeast United States and Taiwan. When she’s not traveling around the country and world doing piano, she spends her day like many of our Liberty Park Music teachers: wake up, drink coffee, check in with emails and social media posts, then practice and plan lessons before teaching students in the evening.

Her biggest piano influences are Martha Argerich, Maria Joao Pires, and Sergei Rachmaninoff. She loves to listen to and play classical music, but some of her favorite songs to listen to in the car are rather unexpected. Can you guess what classic rock band is one of her favorites? What’s her biggest piece of advice for students? Practice efficiently and mindfully. It’s better to have specific goals for an hour practice than aimlessly play for three.
