WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Day 1: Posture and Hand Position

In our first video, we will be discussing about the right posture that you should adopt when playing the piano. This includes your sitting posture and your hand positions. It is important to be able to maintain the correct sitting position throughout your practices, as this will help you practice more comfortably and effectively.

Day 2: Finger and Arm Movement

Much like sports, understanding how your body moves is crucial. In the second lesson, learn to position and move your wrists correctly. We will also be teaching you about finger placements and movements, and finger numbers. Simple as it sounds, these elements are often neglected by beginners, so be sure to pay attention to your fingers and wrist when you play.

Day 3: The Keyboard

Does the keyboard look confusing? Fret not, because in this lesson, we will be introducing the notes on the keyboard and how you should play them. We will look at the ABCs of the piano keys in this lesson, and also, discuss how to place your hands when you play.

Day 4: How to Read Notes

Learn how to read notes! In lesson 4, we will be introducing the staff and the clefs. We will then proceed to discuss the note symbols that appear on the music staves. These will help you make sense of what you see on your music scores. We will complete lesson 4 with more fingering rules.

Day 5: Intervals

An interval is the distance between two notes. Learn about note intervals, and which fingers you should use to play them. We will start with common note intervals, which are the seconds and the thirds. This will be the building blocks for playing piano pieces.

Day 6: Note Values and Rhythms

Music consists of notes and rhythms. Having discussed note names and positions in our previous lessons, we will now move on to rhythm. Lesson 6 will explain the two elements that are crucial to a music's rhythm—note values and time signatures.

Day 7: Ode to Joy by Beethoven

Learn to play Ode To Joy by the famous composer, Beethoven. In this last lesson, we will make use of all the techniques that we've learned from the past lessons. This may not be an easy task, but with enough practice, you will be able to master your first piece of music. Enjoy!
